** Update: PAM’s Predictions:
Orange over Forest by 4
Royal over Silver by 6
White over Maroon by 6
Navy over Black by 1
Red over Gold by 1
For the first time in the history of my career as an ultimate genius, I had a losing record for my picks. After going a sad 2-3 (31-14 overall), I plan to bounce back and be perfect this week. There’s no need to go into last week’s bizarre turn of events, so instead, let’s get right into Q2:
Whiskey Disc (Royal, 0-1 playoffs, 9-1 overall) v
Ag (Silver, 1-0 playoffs, 2-8 overall)

** Disclaimer: Quarter rankings go first on win-loss record after 2 rounds of Quarters. For teams with the same record then tie breaks are decided by Regular Season record for final seeding. **
I had no intention of writing two articles this week for one simple reason: that the playoff format offered no drama, no excitement. Seriously, what event of interest could possibly happen when the 1 played the 10, or even the 3 playing the 9?

Captain Reviews:
Ag vs Tactical Geniuses
The week before was the first true week we had almost the entire team together and we came with a new gameplan. Drink beer. We found a magical power inside the beer that we drank. Maybe it is the Silver can, or maybe its the beer, but we found our missing ingredient as a team and we played better from it. You know the ole’ saying “I play better while I drink”. That became our motto. Last week, at half-time against red, as our captain I ran to the quick-mart and proceeded to bring back an 18-pack of beer. Down 6-2, we took a time-out straight out of half and drank beer as a team. Low and behold we got ourselves back in the game 8-6. We ended up losing that game but found ourselves through beer. Fast-forward to this week.
Jack Skunk is quoted for saying “Silver stands no chance”, and before the game we believed him. The entire time we were in the huddle, we were debating and voting on who was going to go out and get us beer. We decided the safest and most responsible thing to do would be to have the youngest and youngest looking person on the team make the trip. Fortunately for Troy, he’s 21 years old. Deanna shows up late for the first point so Troy plays one point before going on his mission. I decided to start on Offense so if we scored, we could at least say we had the lead. Starting on O we set up in the vertical and I start a conversation with the player playing defense on me, Spencer. As he is thinking, and on a complete whim, I streak deep for a goal. Not knowing what I had done, Spencer proceeds to tell me that I totally Jedi mind tricked him, 1-0.

Quarters Predictions, Round 1
July 15, 2010
By: Jack Skunk
I’m not a fan of double-headers, and here’s why: everyone is rushed, and you don’t have a chance to take in all of the ambiance and emotions that surround a game- basically, for the same reason that the Joker uses a knife and not a gun. You just can’t savor anything, and that completely dilutes the whole experience.
Despite being rushed though, I was able to go 7-3, which now makes my over all record 29-11. It’s not bad, I know, but I’m better than that. As for this week, the predictions are easy, so let’s do it.
And away… we… go!

Epic Pale v. Know Expectations
I was very confident coming into this week until Friday morning: I received an email that Eric! would be unavailable and then received word a few hours later that Meg had tweaked her back. No Meg meant that I was in a world of hurt, since we’ve relied on her all season long to make things happen. Anyway, the prospect of going 0-2 crossed my mind, and I was concerned. On the plus side, I did have Adam back, as well as my usual greats. To the game: After winning the flip, I chose offense, because I figured the games would be short, and I’d be forced to play down, so drawing first blood was crucial. Gold pulled to us, and we scored, nice and simple. We then went on to control the first half, making it 6-1 at the break. White was feeling good, but Pilgrim wasn’t done. James, Pilgrim and Joel all played great and turned it on, and capitalized on Pale mistakes, going on a 4-1 run. After that, though, we were able to stop the bleeding, and ended the game. The final was 11-6 (Kyle: please check my math and confirm).
