On this day in 1862 the battle of Fredericksburg took place in the American Civil War. This one is fairly simple: The forces of Robert E. Lee were in a well fortified position, on a hill, behind a river. The Union forces then wisely decided to attack, by going across a frigid river under heavy gun and cannon fire, and then crawl up a muddy hill. Surprisingly, the attack failed. I wonder why nobody re-enacts that idiotic battle. Sheesh.
Today was a fine day of field-disc as everyone came out to enjoy the last few games before the Holidays. Standard: We had two games of 7/11 with an east-west set, and unseasonably warm temps; it was probably 80 or so at first pull. Citizens is just lovely.
Team 1: Coach, Kink, Sebastian, Wheels, Showkiller, Dr. D, Dred, and Godfather
Team 2: Zen, Swiss, Robber, Puller, Josh, Kekebus, Polaris, Obama!, and Johnny
Game One: The 2s started off with a big lead, but then the 1s battled back and seized their first lead at the 15th point. After that, scores were traded until it was overtime. The 1s then scored, got a break, and scored again. Final: 12-10, Team 1.
Game Two: This was a lot like the first game, with hucks, drops, Ds and everything else you would associate with a mid-level game. Due to daylight concerns, there was no overtime, but the 2s did win it on Universe. Final: 11-10, Team 2.
LoSG: Yes
Points: 22-21
Schedule: Next game is Wednesday at 6pm
