[Godfather]

On this day in 1496, Vasco de Gama rounded the cape of Good Hope- which as Wikipedia points out- was where Bartolomeu Dias turned back. What they don’t say, is that as de Gama did it, he spiked a disc and yelled “Suck it, Bart! Suck it!” Needless to say, that cost him a few votes for the spirit award.

Today was a fine day of field-disc with everyone showing up at 6pmish as scheduled. Standard: we had two games of 7/11 and 6/7 with an east-west set and cool, humid, 60ish weather. Oh, and there was a moderate breeze pushing from the east, which made the disc all wobbly and such.

Game One: The 1s started off hot, then had a collapse of epic proportions. Rough and tumble 2 defense, 1 drops and hucks all spelled doom for the 2s. By the 9th point, the game was out of hand. Final: 11-5, Team 2.

Game Two: The 2s received a little payback. After taking a 4-3 lead, the 2s fell behind, were broken, and then beaten. Yeah. It was SWEET. Final: 7-5, Team 1.
