On this day in 1941, Wake Island fell to the Japanese. Wake, for the record, was an isolated outpost in the Pacific, and the soldiers, sailors and Marines who made the last stand there were truly heroic. What must have been annoying though, is that as they were being surrounded and attacked, the Press was likening the defenders to those of the Alamo- who, of course, all died.
Today was a fine evening of field-disc, though I'll be honest, I didn't think it was going to happen. Standard: We had an east-west set and two games of 5/11 and 5/7. The weather was nice and cool- maybe in the mid 60s at first pull.
Team 1: Puller, Obama!, Swiss, Jonah (Les' boy) and Les
Team 2: Studio, Jonathan, Dr. D, Godfather, Coach (well, sort of), and Biden
Game One: Oh, this one got out of hand early. Coach wasn't really in the mood to play, so he did one or two warm up points, a couple of push passes, and then he called it a night and retired to the sidelines. The 2s then got throttled and were down 7-3, and then 10-4. After that though, the 2s rattled off three in a row before giving up the last goal. Final: 11-7, Team 1.
Game Two: In this one, the 2s still had the momemtum and were able to win in a short one. It wasn't a pretty game, but it was a game. Final: 7-5, Team 2.
LoSG: Yes.
Points: 16-14
Schedule: Game Sunday at 330pm at Citizens.
